Ian Barnes
United Kingdom
Professor and Research Leader at the Natural History Museum in London and one of the pioneering scientists in using aDNA from Late Pleistocene mammals. His research has spanned a wide variety of topics, including both human and animal populations. It has provided many insights into the evolutionary relationships between species and their environments, and has furthered our understanding of both extinct end extant fauna. In addition to his academic work, Professor Barnes is an active science communicator.

Christina Warinner
USA
Professor at Harvard University and Research Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute in Jena. She is widely recognized for her research on ancient microbiomes, utilizing dental calculus to reveal insights about the diets, health, and daily lives of historical human populations. Her work combines archaeology and molecular biology to explore the long-term evolution of the human microbiome and its role in health and disease. Professor Warinner has recieved several awards for her research, including a TED Fellowship.

Johannes Krause
Germany
Professor at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig. He is renowned for his groundbreaking work in ancient DNA, for example in the work to sequence the first Neanderthal genome. He has also made important contributions to aDNA research on historical pathogens, human evolution and the peopling of Europe. Professor Krause has spent over a decade advancing the knowledge of past populations, thereby establishing himself as a key figure in the field of ancient genomics.

Beth Shapiro
USA
Professor at the University of Santa Cruz, California and currently Chief Scientific Officer of Colossal Biosciences. A leading expert in palaeogenomics, she has spent over 20 years studying DNA from extinct species and is now pioneering the use of advanced genetic techniques to reconstruct prehistoric life. She is also the author of popular science book How to Clone a Mammoth, where she explores the scientific and ethical questions surrounding the topic of de-extinction.
